How to Update Account Access and Transfer Connection Ownership

Last updated: August 5, 2026

When an employee who set up a connection (such as Zelty or Planity) leaves your organization and their email address is deactivated, you may need to update account access or transfer connection ownership to another user. This article explains your options depending on your situation.

Best practice: To avoid access issues in the future, use a shared organizational email address (e.g., integrations@company.com) when setting up connections, rather than a personal employee email.

Impact on Existing Synchronizations

If the email address used to create a connection becomes inaccessible, your automatic synchronizations will continue to run normally (daily or monthly, depending on your setup). However, you will lose the ability to manage the connection until access is restored or transferred.

Option 1: Change the Email Address Yourself (Original Email Still Accessible)

If you still have access to the original email address used to create the connection, you can update the administrator email without contacting support:

  1. Log in to your account using the original email address.

  2. Navigate to your account settings.

  3. Add the new email address you want to use for admin access.

Option 2: Transfer the Connection to a New Account (Original Email No Longer Accessible)

If you no longer have access to the original email address, Chift support can migrate the connection to a new account. Follow these steps:

  1. Create an account on the Chift marketplace using the new email address. Visit the appropriate marketplace URL for your integration. You do not need to complete the full connection process — simply accessing the marketplace is sufficient.

  2. Contact Chift support and provide both email addresses:

    • The original email address used to set up the connection

    • The new email address to transfer the connection to

Both email addresses are required for security verification before the transfer can be completed.

Current Limitations

When the original email address is no longer accessible, direct account deletion and self-service email changes are not currently available. The transfer process described in Option 2 above is the supported method for reassigning a connection to a different account.

User Roles and Permissions

There is no difference in access rights between the Guest (Invité) and Admin (Administrateur) roles in Chift accounts — both roles have the same permissions and capabilities.

Troubleshooting: Multiple Connections with the Same Name

If you notice multiple connections with the same name but different statuses, check the associated email addresses and connection states to identify which connection is active and which may require attention or cleanup.
